I bought the Amazon Fire TV 4K stick the other day, but I had really bad issues with audio and lip sync, and discovered this was a widespread issue without a clear fix, so was going to return it, and that's why I thought I'd use the PS4 Pro instead in the mean time.

On the other hand, perhaps the PS4 Pro isn't the best way to consume Netflix and Amazon Prime, simply because of how much power it draws and it's kind of an overkill. That's really disappointing and annoying.

Amazon's help page seems to suggest that too, although it only lists PS3 and PS4 and doesn't mention PS4 Pro specifically. Go figure! It's really confusing as a lot of articles online seem to suggest it should work, but I managed to find several posts on various forums on the Internet where other people are having the same issue and coming to the conclusion that the PS4 Pro Amazon app simply doesn't support 4K. In Netflix, I can see 4K/UHD titles (some only say HDR, doesn't that also mean they're 4K? Or, if they're saying 4K/UHD does that mean they're 4K, but NOT HDR and the ones that say HDR are both 4K and HDR?), but I have no way of verifying they're displaying in 4K, as I don't know a way to display (like in Amazon Prime Video app) which actual resolution I'm seeing in the Netflix app during playback of a title.Īll equipment is inter-connected using brand new HDMI cables supporting all the latest 4K standards/requirements.Īfter some googling, it appears you're right and that the PS4 Pro Amazon Prime Video app doesn't support 4K/UHD. My PS4 Pro is set to Auto under Video Output and Resolution, and confirms the signal being output is 3840x2160 - 60Hz, HDCP 2.2 (HDCP enabled). I also performed an internet connection test that the Netflix app provides (couldn't find a similar option in Amazon Prime) and the result was 138.11 Mbps, which I believe is more than fast enough. It's Virgin, the PS4 Pro is connected with an ethernet cable (not wireless). I believe my network connection is stable and fast enough.

I watched a whole movie last night, and it never changed from 1080p. I've given it enough time, in case it's a buffering issue, but it never goes above 1080p. Verified by pressing down on the controller, and it shows HD 1080P, in the bottom left of the screen, next to the time elapsed and below progress bar. I played several titles that say (UHD) next to the title (there are also non-UHD) versions, and all I get is 1080p. I can't seem to get Amazon Prime Video to display anything in 4K. I've never had 4K in any form before, so I'm trying to get it all set up and working, and having some issues. So I just upgraded my AV receiver (last one 9 years old) to gain 4K support and also bought a 4K projector (last one 12 years old!).
